Fandom Based Resolutions!

This Fandom Friday post is brought to by the letter N, for (The) Nerdy Girlie, and the letter S for Super Space Chick. And by readers like you

My Fandom Resolutions for 2015 go back to my blogging/life resolution of time management. I have more time this year than...well, EVER! I plan on doing a lot more, but I am currently on making those things habits, more than resolutions. But it's the new year, and it's always fun to resolve to do what you've always wanted to do. I put in parenthesis how these resolutions are also involved in my fan girl life!

from The Hunger Games

1). Keep running & physically training!(Cosplay x Hunger Games)- I've been working out with friends this last month and I am seeing results (which is needed for me). I want to keep doing this and add more running to the mix. This also goes in with my last year's goals. But I feel a lot better about this year. (yes, for cosplay, and SDCC endurance).
From my fave series EVER, by Jasper Fforde, (pic mine)
2). READ! (books, comics, history)- My goodness, 2014 I FAILED in my reading. Like, I thought I might need to change my blog title (I might anyway...I don't want to though). I did not read as much. This year that will change!
My textbook & workbook!
3). Japanese (anime, dramas, movies, manga)-  back in 2007 my brother, and I took Japanese. There we made friends with Victoria, and others with whom we still talk. I however, have fallen out of practice. This year I plan on changing that. I have my texts, and am trying to get Rosetta Stone so I can have practice!

I need to get a "Sewing for N00bs" book too...
4). Cosplay & Sewing (multi-fandoms and...well cosplay)- I'd like to learn, and, make a few simple things on my sewing machine.  I mean, for crying out loud: I HAVE A SEWING MACHINE (now) so I really have no business not making at least a throw pillow right? Also, I'm working on two cosplays, and would like to work on more. I would LOVE to sew at least part of it. My unfortunate downfall (my biggest one I think) is my lack of patience. I want to finish a project THAT DAY! So, I'll have to start small, and as I get better, I
Monthly planner...for the look ahead!
5). Dedicated TV/VG hours (shows, Hulu, Netflix, & games)- I don't have cable, so I have to Hulu. So, to better take care of my time, the shows I like will be in my planner, and should I finish all the things I need to do, then, and ONLY THEN will be video game time! I'm basically, going to treat myself like an elementary student, which isn't a bad thing. No more being lazy! Also, since I'm practically Hulu only, I'd like to see about "Live Tweeting for the Hulu Dependent" for shows, that way, no spoilers for Arrow, The Flash, Supernatural...basically anything not on NBC or ABC I have to Hulu.

Those are my resolutions!
Do you have any fandom resolutions?

  1. These are all great! I've been away from the blogging game too long, and I miss out on all these great posts from you! I'd say that's a blogging resolution for me. I love your fandom resolutions too. Having a planner and the consistency to stick to it definitely helps! I'm really impatient with my sewing as well, but if you think of it as working on a few pieces at a time and spreading it out and planning it, it might not be so bad. :) That's what I usually end up doing when I have to tackle a huge project. That way you feel accomplished and not completely stressed out, lol.

  2. Oh no, don't change the blog title! The phrase "book pimp" conjured up a pile of books with a feathered jacket/hat combo luring people into alleyways in the promise of a good time. That title is clutch. Just read more. ;)

  6. These are some great resolutions! Let's practice Japanese together, I am also a bit out of practice.... =__=
You know what one of my resolutions is that I never mentioned? Finishing at least one game before buying a new one. Right now I have about 9 unfinished games... Oh the shame.... LOL....
And I also managed to start reading again the last few days of December. I must squeeze it in there more often... Yep yep! ^__^ And finish those games....

  7. Mine is definitely #4 too. I've had a sewing machine for over a year now and barely used it. It's right... there!!! All ready lol I always expect to finish something in a day too but in reality even experienced people can take forever.

  8. Oh, wow, Japanese! Good luck! Getting Rosetta Stone will definitely help. It's an awesome program. Languages are so cool. I'm trying to re-learn the French I learned in high school. Happy 2015!

  10. I can definitely relate with reading more! I only read two books last year (one I devoured in three weeks, and the other took 10 months, hah!). Good for you for keeping up your physical training! I started doing the Billy Blanks DVDs again, as they are what is available to me, and I am noticing an improvement in my stamina already. I couldn't even get through 10 minutes of the video before, but now I have worked my way up to 20. Also, I think Japanese is an awesome language to learn. I took a semester of it when I first started going to college, and it was just a great class that was always fun. Something that the teacher had us do was record our own presentations at the end of it, so that way we could look back to see how much we learned (or in my case, unlearned) >__>

  13. It's so hard!!! I am basically trying to budget my activities as though they were classes in school. That way, I spend a little time on each thing a day! ESPECIALLY #1!!!

  14. Awesome job with Billy Blanks! Keep doing it!

And the recording of the presentations...IDK if I could watch myself after!

I made up my presentations so like, if we were supposed to say what we did over the summer, I said I was going to be a camp counselor, and I used pictures from the Disney movie Heavyweights...I liked to pretend I was doing a "monologue" for a Japanese drama.

  17. Dude, I have all of the Pokemon games...NONE of them are finished!!!

  18. I have a pattern to make Pajama pants, and, some Return of the Jedi fabric...but I'm scared to cut it without some practice fabric (ie, I don't want to screw up my RotJ stuff lol).

  21. I'm going to try working on one little part a day...that way I accomplish, but don't spend 24 hours trying to do one thing (I'm a "Do It Until Complete" person...which is why I'm not great at crocheting or sewing...I get frustrated LOL).

  22. Yeah, it stinks since Rosetta Stone is so expensive! But I am hoping!

  23. One is a love of mine (reading), and the other, I'm hoping to love(sewing)...but am VERY intimidated by it.
